Perched on top of a sand dune in a remote part of the rugged coastline, between Barra and Tofo is the 5-bedroom eco-lodge, Sava Dunes. It commands expansive views of beach and ocean and offers a tranquil beach retreat experience, with a raw, close-to-nature appeal. Rooms connect to the main lodge via a wooden walkway which winds through coastal vegetation, arriving at a bar and dining area, and an outdoor poolside lounge and deck with a pool and swim-up bar. The menu skilfully combines in season local produce and traditional seafood.
Activities include body-boarding, snorkeling, longboarding and dune-top sundowners. Guests can also book optional extra ocean safaris, big game fishing and off-site diving (pre-booked). Dolphins, seasonal humpback whales and whale-sharks are often spotted and a shoal of seahorses in the neighbouring estuary appeals to snorkelers.
